Parts Breakdown
Water Storage - A 15L BPA-Free water carrier built to our specifications. Suitable for storing water for drinking and hygiene, it includes a tap for easy control over the water flow as well as sturdy in-molded handles which are stronger than the welded-on type. The average person needs 3-5 liters of water per day for drinking, meal prep, and hygiene. Water can be stored for up to 6 months in a cool, dry place, and we always recommend filling up the container before an emergency hits to always be prepared.
Water Purifying Tablets - The kit includes 6 1L water purifying tablets from Oasis. If the local government has issued warnings to boil or purify the water supply, dropping one of these in drinking water will purify it in under 10 minutes.
Coffee & Sugar - Freeze-dried instant coffee and some accessories. It is important to keep your energy level up and stay alert during a crisis, and when the power goes out, you don't want your coffee supply to go with it! Not your Espresso House frappuccino, but will keep you alert and awake for the whole time.
Seven Oceans Emergency Food Rations - Dry emergency rations from Seven Oceans, a trusted brand that has been used for decades in the shipping industry in lifeboats and emergency kits. Each pack includes 9 bars which equal 2500kcal, a little over the recommended daily intake for adults. These rations last at least 5 years and can be eaten either as a dry biscuit or mixed with warm water to become a porridge. Vegan. We always recommend having extra cans of long-life food at home, these are emergency rations and will taste as an emergency feels. A quote from a friend that used these during military service "Have you ever ate one of these when you have a dry mouth and were convinced that was the moment you were going to die?" These will however keep you alive and not going hungry.
Toilet Bags - Sanitary bags that line your toilet for when the water is not working. They are made from a thick plastic that is not porous i.e. will not allow odor to leak from the material. These bags also compost meaning that they can be buried if you have access to the outside during a crisis. Tie handles to keep odors from escaping.
Hygiene Wipes - Antibacterial wipes used when there is no access to water for general hygiene. Made from recyclable material.
Toilet Paper - A long roll of toilet paper. Our tip is to use an excess of paper when using toilet bags, as it helps to absorb the odor and ease in composing.
9hr Candles - Candles that burn for much longer than the normal tea light, at least 8 hours, which means you can light and forget about them. Light one in the bathroom, bedroom, and living room to provide light and warmth.
First Aid Kit - A complete first aid kit that covers the most common injuries sustained at home, like small cuts, burns, CPR, and larger cuts or breaks. The complete list of contents can be found here.
Emergency Stove - A small stove that is used to heat food or as an alternative heat source. Contains 6 tablets, one of which will boil 300ml of water in under 5 minutes (the perfect amount of water to add to make porridge from the rations!). Also contains one gripping tong to pick up the stove when hot, and a trash bag. The fuel burns cleanly and is safe to be used inside as long as you have enough ventilation.
Insulation/Repair Tape - Tape for the specific use of sealing cracks in window frames and other places where warmth can leak out or cold can creep in. Will ensure that no drafts can get in and increase the heat retaining properties of your home. Always ensure there is enough ventilation for everyone in the home!
Playing Cards - The sixth and most forgotten point of crisis preparedness - entertainment. You can build a card tower, do some artwork or just play cards. They could also be used to start an emergency fire as they are impregnated with flammable chemicals.
Instruction Booklet - While the whole kit has been designed to be used by anyone, our booklet will give you some useful tips and tricks on how to better get through a crisis, and how to make your experience more comfortable.
Paper & Pencil - Can be used for entertainment, or for noting important things down. We suggest noting down things that you wish you had for your next emergency situation.
Flashlight - A big flashlight in a small package. The light strength of 300 lumens allows you to light up short to medium distances and even comes with a focus feature that allows you to tighten or widen the flow of light, which can be useful for signaling. Runs on a 1x AA battery. Includes a pocket clip.
Whistle - A dynamo or solar-powered radio with flashlight and power bank feature, built to our specifications. It is extremely important to be able to receive news from official sources when other means like phones are not available. In Sweden, your local radio SVT P4 channel will broadcast emergency information as well as VMAs to the public. The radio can be charged with either the solar panel on the top of the unit or a hand crank on the back of the unit. It can also be charged by USB if you have another power source available, such as a car or a large battery.
Emergency Blanket - An emergency blanket that helps reflect your body heat. Should be used in conjunction with a thick duvet or bed cover for best results.
